Meet Temi

My name is Temi Shobowale. I'm a Canadian-Nigerian beauty entrepreneur, makeup artist, and creative leader with over 15 years of experience shaping the beauty industry, from luxury retail floors to film and television sets, from red carpets to boardrooms. I have also served as a Beauty Awards judge since 2021, contributing expert evaluation to a nationally recognized collaboration between Châtelaine, FASHION, and Hello! Canada.

My journey began as the go-to makeup adviser for friends and family, but it deepened when I volunteered my services at a local women's shelter. There, I discovered that beauty wasn't just about transformation; it was about restoration, confidence, and community. That realization became the foundation of everything I've built since.

Today, I lead through three pillars of expertise:

Beauty Entrepreneurship & Brand Strategy – As the founder of Essentials by Temi, a genderless, low-waste, plant-based skin and soul care brand featured in Vogue, GQ, Elle, Good Morning America, Byrdie, and other major publications, I understand what it takes to build a brand with vision, integrity, and longevity. I now support emerging and established beauty founders through strategic consulting and hands-on guidance.

Luxury Beauty & Celebrity Artistry – I create tailored beauty experiences for discerning clients across selective bridal, celebrity, and editorial work. My approach is rooted in complexion-driven artistry, thoughtful personalization, and elevated attention to detail, delivering flawless, skin-real finishes across the full spectrum of skin tones and undertones while honouring each client’s unique vision.

Film & TV Production Leadership – With extensive experience as a Makeup Department Head, Key Makeup Artist, and Casting Producer, I bring leadership, cultural authenticity, and industry expertise to productions. I guide emerging artists through union and agency landscapes and ensure every project reflects excellence from pre-production to wrap.

Beyond my professional work, I’m deeply committed to community building and giving back. In 2015, I created HerDay, a series of seasonal experiences designed to bring diverse groups of women together for genuine connection, networking, and upliftment in our fast-paced city. More recently, I created Unity in Beauty, which I soft-launched as the Beauty Club host at Soho House Toronto, establishing a quarterly, dedicated space for the beauty community in Toronto to come together, share, and celebrate our craft.
